FAIRBURY – A pink ribbon was formed by staff members on the Jefferson Community Health Center campus in honor of a fellow staff member who battled cancer, and in recognition for the upcoming Relay for Life.
About 60 JCHC and Cedarwood staff members, Cedarwood tenants, and friends formed a human ribbon on the grassy area west of Cedarwood on May 29. Many were wearing pink shirts stating “I wear Pink for Becky” purchased in support of Becky McClure, who had been undergoing cancer treatment, and Relay for Life. Others joined in wearing various shades of pink. When the ribbon was formed on the ground, local pilot Randy Prellwitz provided an aerial view for Missy Klasek RN, JCHC nurse, to take photographs.
The Cedarwood/Gardenside/JCHC Relay for Life team is one of many teams participating in the 2014 Relay for Life event in Jefferson County. Relay for Life is a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society set for the Jefferson County Fairgrounds from 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday, June 20.
