Jefferson Family Home Care brings care to patients

Today’s health care professionals understand that there are many advantages to patients who receive health care in their homes. Home health care may offer a patient more privacy, convenience, comfort, a shorter recovery time and lower costs.

Jefferson Family Home Care is a service offered by Jefferson Community Health Center. It is designed to provide services for the homebound person who needs the skilled services of a nurse or therapist.

Services include:

Injections; Bowel, bladder training; Nutritional guidance; Decubitus care; Sterile techniques; Contacts for equipment; IV therapy; Patient and family education; Catheter care; Speech therapy; Dressing changes; Bathing; Irrigations; Colostomy care; Obtaining lab specimens; Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapy.

In order to receive Home health care, the patient must be under a physicians’ care, and may not be in a hospital or nursing home. Home health may be paid through Medicare, Medicaid, private health insurance or by the patient. There are specific guidelines which must be met for services to qualify for Medicaid, Medicare and insurance reimbursement.
